The LIS Center is located in Areal, in the Mountain Region of Rio de Janeiro. With easy access via BR-040.
Coming by intercity bus (leaving RJ) or interstate bus (leaving another state):
The closest bus station to LIS is Três Rios, RJ.
At Três Rios Bus Station, take an Uber to LIS (24.8 km away, around 30 minutes).
From Rio city:
Go up the Rio – Petrópolis mountain range and follow the BR040 highway, towards Itaipava / Araras.
Pass the Araras entrance.
Pass the entrance to Itaipava.
Continue along BR-040.
Pass the toll booth.
Continue for a few more kilometers on the BR-040.
Do not take the 1st exit for Areal at Km 39.
Continue for another 1 km, where you reach the exit for Parque Julioca/Areal (on the right, at Km 38). Take this exit.
Once off the BR, cross the bridge and turn left.
Follow this road until you reach the LIS entrance.
